Xavier softball loses regular-season finale to Seymour

AppletonSportsPage.com

APPLETON – The Xavier softball team was held to three hits and lost a 6-2 decision to Seymour in its regular-season finale Thursday at Xavier High School.

The game was called in the top of the sixth inning due to weather.

Seymour scored four times in the second inning, and Addison Wery and Addesin Smith hit solo home runs in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead.

Xavier scored its two runs in the bottom of the fourth on a double steal and an RBI groundout by Kalia Stammer, but that would be it as the Hawks finish the regular season with a 9-8 record and a 5-7 mark in the Bay Conference.

Seymour (12-6 overall) clinches a second-place finish in the Bay Conference with an 8-4 record.

The WIAA postseason brackets will be announced on Sunday.
