Bay Conference leader West De Pere holds off Xavier softball

APPLETON – West De Pere maintained its lead atop the Bay Conference softball standings as it held off a late rally from Xavier to win 7-6 on Tuesday at Xavier High School.
Trailing by three heading into its final at-bat, Addison Hervey smacked a two-run homer to bring Xavier within a run, but the Phantoms (7-4, 4-1 Bay) was able to get the final two outs to preserve the victory.
Kaila Stammer, Elsa Dvoracek and Hervey each had two hits for the Hawks, who fall to 7-5 and 4-4 in the Bay Conference.
Xavier is back in action Friday with a nonconference home game against Ripon.
