Fox Valley Lutheran baseball splits doubleheader with Oconto Falls

APPLETON – Oconto Falls’ pitching was able to keep the Fox Valley Lutheran offense down, but the Foxes were able to sneak out a split of a North Eastern Conference baseball doubleheader Saturday at Fox Valley Lutheran High School.
Each team only had one hit in the opening game as Fox Valley Lutheran puled out a 1-0 win. The Panthers came back in Game 2, limiting FVL to only three hits, and won 5-2 to earn the split.
Both teams are now 6-3 in the North Eastern Conference, tied with Marinette for third place, one game behind co-leaders Wrightstown and Little Chute.
James Heimerl struck out two and walked one in Game 1 to earn the win for the Foxes (9-5 overall).
Ben Beyer knocked in the game’s only run with a single in the second inning for FVL.
In the second game, Jack Schlueter took the loss for the Foxes as he went the distance with three strikeouts. He also knocked in a run and one of FVL’s three hits.
Fox Valley Lutheran will play at Luxemburg-Casco on Tuesday.
