STEVENS POINT – Appleton Doubledays pitcher Jack Schlueter tossed a gem when the team needed it the most.
In an elimination game at the 2025 Class AAA Wisconsin State American Legion Baseball Tournament on Thursday, Schlueter allowed just one unearned run, three hits and no walks as the Doubledays defeated Oconomowoc 11-1 at Bukolt Park to keep their season alive.
Schlueter struck out three and gave up just a single tally in the top of the first inning before blanking Oconomowoc (13-12) the remaining five innings.
Appleton scored in five of its six at-bats, ending the game on an RBI single by Cade Prestigiacomo in the bottom of the sixth as it won via the 10-run rule.
Prestigiacomo continued his hot hitting, going 4-for-5, including a triple and a pair of RBI as Appleton moves on.
The Doubledays (17-4) will play De Pere (23-8-1), the lone undefeated team in the double elimination tournament, at 7:30 p.m. Friday. De Pere has already secured a berth in next week’s Great Lakes Regional in Carol Stream, Ill. The top two teams of the state tournament advance to the national regional.
Brandon Toback added three hits and scored three times, A.J. Thompson had two hits and two runs scored, and Jackson Bines-Sabrowsky hit a solo home run as well for the Doubledays.
