Fox Valley Lutheran baseball team picks up two wins at Waupun Tournament

WAUPUN – The Fox Valley Lutheran baseball team pulled out a pair of wins at the Waupun Tournament on Saturday, coming from behind to defeat West Allis Hale 8-5 in 10 innings and rolling to a 23-6 rout of Columbus.
In the opening game against West Allis Hale, the Foxes trailed 4-0 after six innings before tying the game with a big rally in the top of the seventh.
Aidan Rachoner had an RBI single, another run scored on an error and Jack Schlueter drove in a pair of runs in the seventh to tie the game at 4-4.
The score remained deadlocked until the 10th when Fox Valley Lutheran put up another four-spot.
Jacob Bickel had an RBI on a sacrifice fly, Rachoner scored on a wild pitch and Jack Schlueter knocked in a run with a single to open up an 8-4 lead.
After the Huskies (4-8) scored once in the bottom of the 10th, Bickel got the final two outs to earn the save.
In the win over Columbus, FVL’s offense was busy as it racked up 19 hits, walked nine times and took advantage of seven errors to put up 23 runs in just five innings.
A 13-run first inning got the ball rolling for the Foxes. Ben Beyer finished with three doubles and five RBI, and Luke Heimerl had four hits and also drove in five in the win.
Lincoln Thede also finished with four hits, and Cooper Kobin and Zach Daily each had three RBI for the Foxes.
FVL will play a North Eastern Conference series against Waupaca with a road game Monday and a home contest on Tuesday. Both games start at 4:30 p.m.
