Appleton East baseball sweeps doubleheader at Wausau East

WAUSAU – The Appleton East baseball team earned a doubleheader sweep of Wausau East, winning a pair of nonconference games 3-2 and 11-4 on Saturday at Wausau East High School.
In the opener, Matthew Bixler tossed a complete game for the Patriots, striking out six with one walk.
Jackson Bines-Sadowsky had two hits and two RBI in the win for Appleton East.
After falling behind 2-0 in Game 2, Appleton East rallied to score seven runs in the first three innings and finished off the doubleheader sweep.
Leadoff hitter Ethan Winkler went 3-for-3 and scored five times, and Cade Prestigiacomo a single, a triple and five RBI for the Patriots (7-3).
Appleton East will play a Fox Valley Association game at home against Neenah on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
