Appleton East softball loses home game to Neenah

APPLETON – Appleton East was held to three hits by Neenah pitcher Kyliegh Mathe and the Rockets won a Fox Valley Association softball game 6-1 on Monday at Appleton East High School.
The Rockets broke open a 1-1 game with a four-run sixth inning as they rode the arm of Mathe, who struck out eight in a complete-game effort.
Kaylee Marhefke and Carson Harwood both smacked home runs in the win for Neenah (8-3, 5-2 FVA).
Sarah Broeckert doubled and scored on a single by Torie Neubauer for Appleton East’s only run in the fourth inning.
Appleton East (2-7, 2-5 FVA) will host undefeated Kaukauna on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
