Fox Valley Lutheran softball sweeps twinbill at Luxemburg-Casco

LUXEMBURG – The Fox Valley Lutheran softball team ran its record to a perfect 12-0 and opened up some space on top of the North Eastern Conference standings with a doubleheader sweep of Luxemburg-Casco on Tuesday at Luxemburg-Casco High School.
The Foxes rallied to win Game 1 3-1 and took the second game 6-2 to run their NEC record to 11-0. Freedom stands in second place at 11-2 with Luxemburg-Casco (11-3 overall) dropping to fourth place at 9-3 in conference play.
The Foxes trailed 1-0 going into their final at-bat before rallying for three runs in the top of the seventh to steal the victory the opener.
Paige Leavitt had an RBI double and a pair of errors by the Spartans allowed two more runs to score to put FVL up 3-1.
Madison Babcock finished off the victory as she tossed a complete game while scattering six hits with no walks and nine strikeouts.
Nora Probst had two of Fox Valley Lutheran’s five hits.
In Game 2, the Foxes maintained that momentum, scoring all six of their runs in the first three innings.
Babcock went four strong innings, allowing no runs and just two hits, and Brianna Dahlke allowed a pair of unearned runs in three innings of relief to earn the save.
Both also played key roles offensively for FVL as Babcock had a triple and two RBI, and Dahlke had two hits and drove in a run.
Fox Valley Lutheran will host Little Chute on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
