Menasha outlasts Xavier softball in extra innings

APPLETON – Menasha pushed across two runs in the top of the eighth inning and defeated Xavier 5-3 in a Bay Conference softball game Thursday at Xavier High School.
Kaila Stammer hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning for the Hawks (9-6, 5-5 Bay Conference), to tie the game at 3-3 and that held until Menasha rallied in the first extra inning.
Teagan Massey-Plamann, who also picked up the pitching win, knocked home a run with a single and Haylee Stobb had a sacrifice fly to plate another to put the Bluejays up.
Massey-Plamann set Xavier down in order in the bottom of the inning to finish off the victory for Bay Conference-leading Menasha (12-8, 9-2 Bay).
Xavier’s next game is Tuesday at home against New London.
