APPLETON – Kimberly maintained its two-game lead in the Fox Valley Association baseball standings with a 6-1 win over Appleton North on Thursday at Appleton North High School.

The game was called with two outs in the top of the sixth inning, following a run-scoring squeeze bunt by Benny Kieffer, due to weather.

Sawyer Deering held Appleton North (10-6, 7-5 FVA) to three hits in five innings while striking out nine for the Papermakers (12-4, 11-1 FVA), who are two games ahead of second-place Hortonville in the FVA standings.

Appleton North scored its only run in the second inning when Colin Reddy led off with a triple and courtesy runner Jacob Quella came home on a balk.

Appleton North plays at Oshkosh North on Friday.
