Fox Valley Lutheran baseball loses both games of twinbill at Denmark

DENMARK – The Fox Valley Lutheran baseball team dropped both ends of a North Eastern Conference doubleheader to Denmark on Thursday at Denmark High School.

Eli Kapinos singled home the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Denmark a 4-3 win in the opener, and the Vikings held Fox Valley Lutheran scoreless after the first inning of Game 2 to win 3-1.

Lincoln Thede, Jack Schlueter and Cooper Kobin each had two hits for the Foxes in the opening game.

Kobin scored on an error in the bottom of the first inning of the second game to give the Foxes a 1-0 lead, but that would be all they would get against Denmark pitchers Cade Delarwelle and Caden Kersten.

Denmark (8-13, 7-10 NEC) scored twice in the third inning and tacked on another in the sixth.

Wyatt Schlueter had two hits for FVL, which finishes the regular season at 13-12 and 8-10 in the North Eastern Conference.

Fox Valley Lutheran will host Shawano in a WIAA Division 2 regional quarterfinal next Thursday, May 29, at 4:30 p.m.
