Xavier baseball sweeps doubleheader over Green Bay East/West

APPLETON – The Xavier baseball team won a pair of games in five innings via the 10-run rule as it hammered Green Bay East/West 15-1 and 13-0 in a Bay Conference doubleheader Friday at Don Hawkins Field.

The Hawks scored multiple runs in all five innings of the opener, smashing out 11 hits. Easton Stempa earned the pitching win, allowing one run over four innings with six strikeouts, and also had a single, a double and four RBI.

Kyle Bleck had two hits and scored four times, and Reed Flick had two hits and knocked in three for Xavier.

In Game 2, Matthew Potter, Flick, Titan Milhaupt and Quinn Comerford combined on a five-inning no-hitter for Xavier, which finishes the Bay Conference season with an 8-10 record.

Alex Mueller had two hits and Comerford drove in two runs for the Hawks (11-12 overall).

Xavier will finish its regular-season schedule with a nonconference home game against Crivitz on Tuesday before opening WIAA postseason play with a Division 2 regional quarterfinal at home against Two Rivers. Both games start at 4:30 p.m. at Hawkins Field.
