Xavier softball upsets No. 1 seed Peshtigo to win WIAA Division 3 regional final

PESHTIGO – The Xavier softball team has had an up-and-down season as it took a four-game losing streak into the WIAA playoffs.

But, after another wild win, the Hawks are heading to sectionals.

No. 4 seeded Xavier pulled out to an early six-run lead and held on to win a Division 3 regional final over No. 1 seed Peshtigo 11-10 on Thursday at Peshtigo High School.

Elianna Riehl had three hits, including a three-run homer, and drove in four, and Abby Ourada had three hits and two RBI for Xavier (11-9).

Joy Krull and Kalia Stammer also had two hits each for Xavier.

Xavier will play at No. 3 seed Clintonville (12-14) in a Division 3 sectional semifinal on Tuesday.
