Appleton East baseball snags shutout win over Appleton North

APPLETON – Appleton East scored two runs without a hit in the bottom of the sixth inning and defeated crosstown rival Appleton North 2-0 in a Fox Valley Association baseball game Thursday at Appleton East High School.
East’s Cade Prestigiacomo and North’s Colin Reddy matches zeroes through 5½ innings before the Patriots were able to strike.
Ethan Winkler walked, stole second and scored on an error, and Jackson Bines-Sabrowsky had a sacrifice fly to plate Alex Thompson with the game’s only runs in the sixth for Appleton East (15-8, 10-7 FVA).
Reddy struck out three, walked two and allowed just one hit, while Prestigiacomo had two strikeouts and gave up just two hits as the two hurlers each tossed stellar complete games.
Brennan Otto and Thomas Carew had singles for the only hits of the game for Appleton North (15-7, 12-6 FVA).
Both teams will wrap up their regular seasons on Friday as Appleton North plays a nonconference game at De Pere, and Appleton East will host Appleton West for an FVA contest.
