Kaukauna thumps Appleton Doubledays Legion baseball

KAUKAUNA – Kaukauna jumped on Appleton early, scoring eight runs in the bottom of the first inning and went on to a 13-1 win over the Doubledays in American Legion baseball action Tuesday night.
Appleton managed eight hits in the five-inning game, but could only get one run across. That came in the second inning when Rylan Winkler led off with a triple and scored on a double by Jack Schlueter.
Kaukauna smashed out 12 hits and scored five more times in the fourth inning to pad its lead and eventually finish off the game after 4½ innings via the 10-run rule.
The Doubledays (5-2) will host Fond du Lac at Koslo Park in Menasha on Wednesday.
