APPLETON – Levi Watts had a pair of hits, drove in three and scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh as the Appleton Post 38 Legion baseball team earned a 10-9 walk-off win over Kimberly on Saturday night at Don Hawkins Field.
Kimberly scored six times in the opening inning before Post 38 responded with a seven-run second, highlighted by a two-run single by Logan Gross and a two-RBI triple from Watts.
Kimberly pulled ahead again with three runs in the fifth before Appleton crawled back to within one in the bottom of the frame on an RBI double by Dimitry Edmunds.
The 9-8 Kimberly held until the bottom of the seventh when Post 38 rallied.
Reed Flick led off with a walk and Watts singled, sending Flick to third. Watts stole second and after a groundout, Logan Hudson hit a grounder to first. The Kimberly first baseman tagged the base for an out before throwing home. Flick scored ahead of the throw, which got past the catcher, and Watts came in as well with the game-winner.
Appleton Post 38 (8-8) will host Manitowoc at 7 p.m. Sunday at Don Hawkins Field.
