GREEN BAY – The Appleton Post 38 Legion baseball team saw its comeback attempt fall just short as it lost 3-2 to the Green Bay Hornets on Tuesday night.
After Green Bay scored twice in the opening innings, Dimitry Edmunds had an RBI single in the third inning for Appleton to cut the deficit in half.
The Hornets put up another run in the fourth and held the 3-1 lead going into the seventh inning when Post 38 tried to rally.
Edmunds scored on an error following a Jack Kangas single and Appleton had runners on second and third with two outs, but a fly out end the game as Post 38 falls to 9-10 this summer.
Levi Watts had two of Appleton’s seven hits.
Appleton hosts Neenah for a doubleheader Wednesday at Don Hawkins Field beginning at 5:30 p.m.
