Kaukauna outlasts Appleton East girls volleyball in FVA opener

APPLETON – The Appleton East girls volleyball team opened its Fox Valley Association season with a hard-fought 3-1 loss to Kaukauna on Friday at Appleton East High School.

Kaukauna won 25-14, 25-21, 22-25, 25-22.

Leading the offense for Appleton East was senior Elizabeth Jacobs with 12 kills and junior Izzy Mead with eight kills. Senior Tesha Schlaak and freshman Adina DePagter each added kills.

The Patriots’ defensive effort was led by Mead and senior Zoe Wockenfus with 16 digs apiece, followed by Adina DePagter with 14. On the service line, the Patriots tallied nine service aces.

Appleton East is back in action Thursday at Kimberly.
