Appleton North girls win team title at Stevens Point Cross Country Invite

STEVENS POINT – Eva Busch won the girls race to help the Appleton North girls to the team title at the Stevens Point Cross Country Invitational on Saturday at Standing Rock Park.

Busch won the girls 5-kilometer race in 18:35.9, 35 seconds ahead of Wisconsin Rapids Assumption’s Lucy Dolan. North’s Ava Helmbrecht finished third in 19:22.8 and Audry Dehlinger was 13^th in 20:39.3 as the Lightning finished with 77 points. Marshfield was second with 86 points and Appleton East finished eighth with 209.

Rosemarie Butler finished seventh in 20:22.7 to lead the East girls.

Stevens Point had the top three finishers in the boys race, including champion Cooper Erickson (15:52.8) and won the team title with 21 points. Appleton North tied for third with 91 and Appleton East was seventh with 209.

Appleton North had three top-20 finishes as Spencer Gremban was 12^th (17:04.0), Braden Walters was 17^th (17:23.5) and Lukas Nahn was 19^th (17:26.0).

Appleton East’s top boys runner was Louie Mandich, who finished 13^th in 17:06.1.
