APPLETON – Appleton East picked up its second Fox Valley Association win of the season with a 3-0 sweep of crosstown rival Appleton North on Tuesday night at North High School.
The Patriots won 25-12, 25-17, 25-22, as both teams are now 2-5 in FVA matches this fall.
Freshman Adina DePagter had 10 digs, six kills and three aces, Syrah Verhagen added six kills, and Zoe Wockenfuss had 17 digs to lead the way for Appleton East.
Elizabeth Jacobs added five kills, Addison Kiekhaefer had 13 assists and three aces, and Opal Sparkman had six assists and five aces as well for the Patriots.
“This was a great win for us,” Appleton East coach Jill Wockenfuss said. “We always know it is difficult to come into the Appleton North gym, they are well trained and well coached and it has historically been a tough environment for us to win in. Coming out tonight with the 3-0 win is a huge accomplishment for our team.”
Appleton North statistics were not provided.
Appleton East will host Appleton West, and Appleton North will travel to Fond du Lac for Fox Valley Association matches on Thursday.
