Bay Port runs past Appleton North in WIAA Division 1 Level 1 football playoff game

HOWARD – Bay Port’s running game proved unstoppable as the Pirates racked up 419 yards on the ground and defeated Appleton North 41-6 in a WIAA Division 1 Level 1 football playoff game Friday night at Bay Port High School.

Brady Moon rushed for 286 yards on 24 carries and scored four touchdowns as the No. 3 seed Pirates (8-2) move on to a Level 2 contest at No. 2 seed Milwaukee Reagan next Friday, Oct. 31.

Moon scored on TD runs of 2, 57 and 70 yards, and quarterback Matt Stevens added a 21-yard rushing touchdown in the first half as Bay Port ripped out to a 28-0 lead.

The Pirates added a field goal just before halftime before Appleton North (5-5) finally hit pay dirt as Sam Schmalz had a 1-yard touchdown run with 4:26 to go in the third quarter.

That would be it for the Lightning, who managed just 128 yards of offense in the loss.

Moon tacked on another long TD run and Beckett Koerten kicked his second field goal to finish off the scoring for the Pirates.
