GREEN BAY – The 2025 WIAA State Girls Volleyball Tournament was held Nov. 6-8 at the Resch Center.
Five divisional state champions were crowned on Saturday, Nov. 8.
Here’s a recap of the championship matches:
DIVISION 5
Rib Lake 3, Wausau Newman Catholic 0
In a battle of teams from Central Wisconsin, Rib Lake of the Marawood Conference North Division topped Newman Catholic from the Marawood South 24-26, 25-18, 25-19, 25-23.
Madelyn Anderson had 11 kills and Megan Komarek added 10 for Rib Lake. Tessa Weik had 19 assists and 16 digs, Tahlia Scheithauer also had 16 digs, and Madilyn Blomberg chipped in 12 assists as Rib Lake won its first state championship in its second state tournament appearance, the other coming in 2006.
Camille Sobolewski completed her stellar career for Newman Catholic with 22 kills. Lexi Rice had 32 assists, Kate Kerns added 15 assists, and Lauren Thiel had 13 kills for the Cardinals, who were making their third-straight trip to state.
DIVISION 4
Milwaukee Heritage Christian 3, Eau Claire Regis 0
Heritage Christian, making its first state tournament appearance, came away as the Division 4 champion with a 25-21, 25-13, 25-10, sweep over Regis. It is the second year in a row Regis lost in the Division 4 finals.
Addie Graebert had 12 kills and Ainsley Ellis finished with 31 assists for Heritage Christian.
Regis was led by Maya Ridenour, who had eight kills.
DIVISION 3
Manitowoc Lutheran 3, Watertown Luther Prep 1
Manitowoc Lutheran, which won the Division 4 championship last year, took the Division 3 title with a 25-20, 24-26, 25-23, 25-21, win over Luther Prep.
Ava Stuebs had 21 kills and 12 digs, Marissa Mehlhorn added 17 kills and 12 digs, and Makiah Krause and Sailieann Burrows each had 21 assists for Manitowoc Lutheran.
DIVISION 2
Sauk Prairie 3, Grafton 2
Sauk Prairie survived a five-set marathon to take its first state title with a 25-27, 25-19, 25-17, 22-25, 15-11 win.
Mallory Hartwig had 22 kills and 24 digs, and setter Alaina Kraemer finished with 34 assists for Sauk Prairie.
Paige Proefrock had 24 kills for Grafton.
DIVISION 1
Sussex Hamilton 3, Milwaukee Divine Savior Holy Angels 0
Hamilton swept DSHA, preventing the Dashers from winning a fourth-straight Division 1 title.
The Chargers won 28-26, 25-20, 25-22, to win their second state title, with the other coming in 2020.
Aubrey Hicks had 14 kills and eight digs, and Claire Baldwin and Faith Benson each had 11 kills for Hamilton.
BOYS CHAMPIONSHIP
Middleton 3, Germantown 0
Middleton capped off an undefeated season with a three-set sweep of Germantown in the boys title game on Nov. 7.
The Cardinals won 26-24, 25-19, 25-21, to win their second state title, the other coming two years ago. They were the runner-up last season.
Caden Van Buren had 20 kills, Bryce Stuttgen finished with 30 assists and Jude Gehrke had 14 digs to lead Middleton, which lost just four sets all season.
