Fond du Lac knocks off Appleton West in FVA girls basketball opener

APPLETON – Fond du Lac opened up a double-digit lead in the first half and held on to defeat Appleton West 53-40 in the Fox Valley Association girls basketball opener for both teams on Tuesday at Appleton West High School.
Fond du Lac led 28-18 at halftime and West held close in the second half, cut couldn’t make up any ground.
Lilah Johnson had 19 points to help the Cardinals (1-2) to their first win of the season.
Ally Buss had 12 points to top Appleton West (1-1 overall).
Appleton West plays a nonconference game at home against New London on Thursday.
