Appleton North/East boys swimming wins dual over Appleton West Co-op

APPLETON – The Appleton North/Appleton East boys swim team improved to 2-0 in Fox Valley Association duals with a 100-76 win over Appleton West/Hortonville/Kaukauna/Kimberly on Tuesday at Appleton West High School.

The Appleton West Co-op won eight of the 11 swimming events, but North/East’s depth provided enough points to pull out the win.

Winners for the Appleton West Co-op were the 200-meter freestyle team of Hayden Hollenbeck, Ethan Shalkhauser, Emerson Middendorp and Ethan Pasholk (1:47.92), the 400 freestyle relay team of Pasholk, Finn Brinkman, Shalkhauser and Ethan Bruce (4:19.00), Middendorp in the 200 freestyle (2:14.75), Bruce in the 100 butterfly (1:04.17), Pasholk in the 100 backstroke (1:00.84) and 200 individual medley, and Hollenbeck in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.26) and the 100 freestyle (57.55 seconds).

North/East winners were the 200 medley relay team of Arthur Skorr, Abram Hansen, Cash Braun and Will Zinth (1:58.20), Braun in the 50 freestyle (26.05), Zinth in the 400 freestyle (4:50.03), and Owen Schmitz in the diving competition (228.90 points).

Appleton West/Hortonville/Kaukauna/Kimberly will compete at the McFarland Invitational.

Appleton North/Appleton East will have some time off before hosting Neenah at Appleton North on Jan. 6 for an FVA dual.
