Undefeated Milwaukee Pius XI Catholic holds off Xavier girls basketball

BROOKFIELD – No. 1 Milwaukee Pius XI Catholic survived a tight matchup with No. 4 Xavier 49-47 in a battle of top-five ranked Division 2 girls basketball teams on Saturday at Brookfield Central High School.
The game was a make-up from a postponed contest originally scheduled for Nov. 29.
Nine of Xavier’s 14 made field goals were 3-pointers as Brynn Krull and Kayla Standish each made three from long range. Krull led the Hawks with 18 points.
Sydney Tilley topped Pius XI Catholic with 13 points. The Popes remain undefeated at 9-0.
Xavier (5-2) hosts West De Pere (3-4) for a nonconference game on Monday.
