Appleton North boys basketball blasts Hortonville

APPLETON – The Appleton North boys basketball team made quick work of Hortonville, dominating the first half and rolling to an 83-27 win in a Fox Valley Association game Tuesday night at Appleton North High School.
The Lightning raced out to an astonishing 52-2 lead late in the first half before Hortonville closed the half on a 9-0 run. North then outscored the Polar Bears (1-6, 1-4 FVA) by 15 in the second half to win going away.
Eleven different Appleton North players scored in the victory, with Will Sweeney leading the way with four 3-pointers and 18 points.
Grant Hardy added 11 points to surpass 1,000 points for his career, Matthew Rosplochowski had 13 points, and Ben Zdzieblowski chipped in 10 for the Lightning (6-2, 4-1 Fox Valley Association).
Appleton North will compete at the Rick Majerus/Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Shootout at Concordia University in Mequon next week. The Lightning will play Mequon Homestead on Monday and West Allis Central on Tuesday.
