Appleton North boys basketball wins both games at Majerus/WBY Shootout

MEQUON – The Appleton North boys basketball team won both of its games at the Rick Majerus/Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Shootout on Monday and Tuesday at Concordia University.

The Lightning defeated Mequon Homestead 70-58 on Monday and held off West Allis Central 74-72 on Tuesday to improve to 8-2 this season.

Appleton North, ranked ninth in this week’s Bound Wisconsin/Zaleski Sports Division 1 state poll, knocked down 14 3-pointers to hand West Allis Central, the second-ranked team in the D-1 poll, its first loss of the season.

Grant Hardy hit four 3s and scored a game-high 25 points, Matthew Rosplochowski had 17 points, and Nathan Ramus chipped in 15 as he surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career for the Lightning.

Appleton North is back in action Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Oshkosh North.
