Appleton East girls basketball downs Appleton North, stays unbeaten in FVA

APPLETON – The Appleton East girls basketball team kept its perfect Fox Valley Association record intact with a 75-54 win at rival Appleton North on Friday night.

The Patriots (10-1, 8-0 FVA) put up 47 points in a dominating first half and were able to finish off the victory as four players scored in double figures.

Appleton East hit 11 3-pointers, four from Ella Sweeney, who had a game-high 23 points. Aubrie Erickson added 14 points, Jenna Ott scored 13 and Emilia MontMarquette chipped in 11.

Avery Werfal scored 15 points and Tay Maass had 12 for the Lightning (8-4, 4-4 FVA).

Appleton East hosts Eau Claire Memorial for a nonconference game on Saturday, and both teams return to FVA action Tuesday as North hosts Fond du Lac and East travels to Appleton West.
