Xavier girls basketball hands Winneconne its first Bay Conference loss

APPLETON – The Xavier girls basketball team picked up a must-win in the Bay Conference, taking down first-place Winneconne 53-46 on Tuesday night at Xavier High School.
Brynn Krull made three 3-pointers and scored a game-high 26 points for Xavier, which improves to 10-3 overall and 6-1 in the Bay Conference while handing Winneconne its first conference loss.
The Hawks are now one-half game behind Winneconne (11-2, 7-1 Bay) as they hit the midway point of their conference schedule. Xavier earns a split with the Wolves, which won at home against Xavier 61-60 back on Dec. 2.
Kayla Standish added 10 points in the win for the Hawks.
Grace Mitchell led Winneconne with 21 points.
Xavier plays at Fox Valley Lutheran on Friday at 7 p.m. looking to sweep the season series from in the crosstown rivalry. The Hawks opened their Bay Conference season with a 60-36 win at home against FVL on Nov. 25.
