APPLETON – Neenah/Hortonville/Menasha overcame an early two-goal deficit and defeated the Fox Cities Stars 5-3 in a battle of Badgerland Conference boys hockey leaders on Tuesday night at the Community First Champion Center.
After a scoreless first period, Quinn Murphy and Parker Janssen scored in the second to give the Stars a 2-0 lead, before Neenah/Hortonville/Menasha ripped off four-straight goals to take control.
Blayke Adamovich scored for the Stars with 1:03 to go to bring them within a goal, but adding an extra attacker while pulling their goalie didn’t work as the Rockets scored an empty net goal with 12 seconds left to ice the victory.
