Appleton North boys basketball rolls past Appleton West as Sweeney eclipses 1,000-point mark

APPLETON – Appleton North senior guard Will Sweeney scored 19 points, moving past the 1,000-point mark for his career, as the Lightning rolled to a 91-48 win over Appleton West in a Fox Valley Association boys basketball game Thursday night at West High School.
Sweeney, who now has 1,010 points in his career, is the fourth North player to accomplish the feat and third this season, joining teammates Nathan Ramus and Grant Hardy.
Matthew Rosplochowski had four of the Lightning’s 12 3-pointers and scored a team-high 20 points, and Grant Hardy had three 3s and 17 points in the win. Sweeney also had three 3-pointers for North (13-2, 9-1 FVA).
Parrion Peace scored 20 points and Braylon Ise added 16 for the Terrors (4-11, 1-9 FVA).
Appleton West plays a nonconference game at Green Bay East on Saturday, and both teams are back into FVA action Tuesday as Appleton North hosts Oshkosh West, and the Terrors travel to Neenah.
