Appleton teams combine for numerous top-five finishes at FVA Wrestling Tournament

APPLETON – Kaukauna won nine of the 14 weight classes and earned its 21^st-straight Fox Valley Association championship at the 2026 FVA Wrestling Tournament on Saturday at Appleton North High School.

The Ghosts finished with 313 points, with Hortonville a distant second with 242.5. Appleton North was sixth (52.5), Appleton East ninth (40) and Appleton West 10^th (24) in the boys team standings.

Neenah won the girls team title with 222 points, with Appleton West fourth with 71 and Appleton North seventh with 45.

Appleton North’s Cassidy Van De Loo picked up an FVA title in the girls 165-pound division with a pin of Kimberly’s Claire Gloudemans in the championship match in 1:13.

Appleton West’s Annaleah Jacobson took second at 132 pounds and Stella Somers was third at 138 in the girls tournament.

In the boys tournament, Appleton East’s Cain Braun had the top finish among the three Appleton teams, taking second at 215 pounds. Teammate Xander DeMatteo was third at 165.

Appleton North’s Maverick Marta finished fourth at 190, with teammates Devin Mosbach (113), Jayden Rasmussen (126) and Jacob Quella (138) each placing fifth.

Malik Taylor also had a fifth-place finish at 285 pounds for Appleton West.

Appleton East, Appleton North and Appleton West will all compete at WIAA Division 1 boys individual sectionals at Green Bay Preble next Saturday, Feb. 14. The top two finishes in each weight class qualify for the 2026 WIAA State Wrestling Tournament in Madison on Feb. 26-28.

Appleton North girls wrestlers will participate at a regional at Wrightstown, while Appleton West girls will be at Hortonville for a regional, both on Friday. The top two wrestlers in each weight class qualify for sectionals on Feb. 20, with the top two in each weight class at sectionals moving on to the state tournament.
