Xavier girls basketball tops New London, clinches Bay Conference championship

APPLETON – The Xavier girls basketball team clinched the Bay Conference title with a 58-45 victory over New London on Friday at Xavier High School.

The Hawks had three players score in double figures as they eased past New London to improve to 17-5 overall and 11-1 in the Bay Conference. Combined with Winneconne’s loss to Fox Valley Lutheran, Xavier earns the conference title for the third time in the past five seasons.

Brynn Krull scored 17 points, Hailey Hafner added 15 and Annika Heimann finished with 11 in the win for Xavier.

Sarah Daly led New London (12-10, 4-9 Bay) with 10 points.

Xavier hosts Menasha on Monday and Shawano on Thursday to wrap up its regular-season schedule. The seedings and brackets for the upcoming WIAA playoffs will be revealed on Sunday.
