Xavier girls basketball wraps up regular season with win over Shawano

APPLETON – The Xavier girls basketball team finished off its Bay Conference championship season with a 71-55 victory over Shawano on Thursday at Xavier High School.

Xavier outscored Shawano by nine in the first half and seven in the second to pull away for its third-straight victory, and finishes the regular season with a 19-5 record and a 13-1 mark in the Bay Conference.

Hailey Hafner scored 20 points, Brynn Krull added 16 and Kayla Standish had 11 for Xavier, which saw 10 different players hit the scoring column.

Leah Nordin led Shawano (15-9, 7-7 Bay Conference) with 29 points.

Xavier will open postseason play with a WIAA Division regional semifinal at home on Friday, Feb. 27, against the winner of Tuesday’s game between Green Bay East at Ashwaubenon.
