Xavier boys basketball hits buzzer-beater to top Fox Valley Lutheran

APPLETON – Caden Schuler hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give Xavier a 69-66 win over Fox Valley Lutheran in another wild game in the crosstown boys basketball rivalry on Friday night at Fox Valley Lutheran High School.

Fox Valley Lutheran’s Caleb Dahlke made two free throws with 3.3 seconds left to tie the game at 66-66. After a timeout, Xavier made two passes and Grant Neumann found Schuler on the left elbow and he drained the 3-point attempt as the buzzer sounded.

The officials talked it over for a bit before determining that the shot was good, sending the Xavier student section into a frenzy.

Gabe Heiges led Fox Valley Lutheran (14-8, 11-4 Bay Conference) 25 points, which included four 3-pointers. Dahlke added 20 points for the Foxes.

Logan Ramczyk topped Xavier (15-7, 10-4 Bay Conference) with 22 points and Kyler Bleck finished with 16.

Both teams are back in action Monday as Xavier hosts New London in a Bay Conference game, while FVL travels to Wausau East for a nonconference matchup.
