Appleton athletes earn four top-10 finishes at WIAA State Boys Swimming & Diving Meet

WAUKESHA – Three local athletes combined for four top-10 finishes at the 2026 WIAA Division 1 Boys Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday at Waukesha South High School.
Appleton West/Hortonville/Kaukauna/Kimberly’s Ethan Pasholk picked up a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley in 1:54.07 and took ninth in the 100 backstroke in 52.35 seconds, teammate Hayden Hollenbeck ended up ninth in the 100 breaststroke in 58.23 seconds, and Appleton North/East’s Owen Schmitz finished eighth in the diving competition with a score of 353.35.
Middleton won eight of the 11 swimming races on its way to its fourth-straight Division 1 state title.
The Appleton West Co-op team of Pasholk, Hollenbeck, Ethan Bruce and Emerson Middendorp tied for 14th in the 200 medley relay (1:38.75) and finished 17th in the 400 freestyle relay (3:17.71). Hollenbeck also added a 22nd-place finish in the 100 butterfly (53.08).
Appleton North/East’s 200 freestyle relay team of Cash Braun, Abram Hansen, Ryan Campana and Arthur Skorr placed 21st in 1:31.29, and Braun took 21st in the 100 butterfly (52.91) and 22nd in the 50 freestyle (22.12).
