Appleton North girls capture team title at UW-Oshkosh D-1 Indoor Track Meet

OSHKOSH – Appleton North won seven events and earned the girls team title at the season-opening UW-Oshkosh Division 1 Indoor Track & Field Invitational on Thursday at the Kolf Sports Center.
North won the girls team title with 110 points, well ahead of runner-up Bay Port, which had 73. Appleton West finished 12th with five points.
Green Bay Preble (96 points) won the boys team title, with Appleton North fifth with 49, Appleton East seventh with 42 and Appleton West 14th with five.
Individual meet champions for the Appleton North girls were Eva Busch in the 1,600 meters (5:15.15), Sophia Scherwinski in the 3,200 (11:45.99), Isabel Parrish in the 60-meter hurdles (8.95) and Ashley Parrish in the long jump (18 feet, 4 inches).
The Lightning girls also won three relay races. The 800 team of Isabel Parrish, Cayden Madlock, Emily Thompson and Princess Tomori won in 1:50.06; the 1,600 team of Ashley Parrish, Nora Thornton, Sophia Busch and Eva Busch won in 4:15.13; and the 3,200 team of Ava Helmbrecht, Sophia Busch, Addy Campbell and Audry Dehlinger took first in 10:19.22.
The Appleton North boys had runner-up finishes from Adrion Rogers in the long jump (21-4) and Braden Walters in the 3,200 (10:12.15), while Simon Kairu was fourth in the long jump (21-2), and the 3,200 relay team of Jeremy Clark, Nolan Moschinski, Jacob Johnson and William Lucchi placed third in 9:01.22.
Three boys had third-place finishes for Appleton East: Louie Mandich in the 1,600 (4:46.28), Birk Kozlowicz in the 400 (53.04) and Liam Krainik in the 800 (2:04.68). Auden Winkel took fourth in the 800 (2:06.39).
Kegan Phalin finished fourth in the 1,600 in 4:49.06 for the Appleton West boys.
