Appleton West softball drops opener to Notre Dame

GREEN BAY – The Appleton West softball team opened its 2026 season with a 17-2 nonconference loss to Green Bay Notre Dame on Thursday at King Field on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

Notre Dame scored multiple runs in all four of its at-bats, finishing the game off due to the 15-run rule with a four-run fourth inning.

Gloria Strasburg had a single to drive in both of Appleton West’s runs in the top of the fourth. Kaydence Gilbert also had a hit for the Terrors.

Notre Dame pitcher Aubrey Wycoff struck out eight over her four innings and also drove in a pair of runs. Stella Starry had three hits and three RBI, and Kaia Waldrop scored four times for the Tritons.

Appleton West is back in action Tuesday, April 7, for its Fox Valley Association opener at Appleton North.
