Eight-run first inning lifts Kimberly to win over Appleton East softball

KIMBERLY – Kimberly scored eight times in the opening inning and went on to defeat Appleton East 9-3 in a Fox Valley Association softball game Thursday at Sunset Park.
Sophie Hermus hit a home run and drove in two runs, and Chloe Biese and Payton Schreiner also each had two RBI for the Papermakers, who were playing their season opener.
Emma Jacobs and Lydia Dahlman both had two hits for Appleton East, which falls to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the FVA.
Appleton East hosts Hortonville on Tuesday.
