Kubiak homers twice as Appleton East softball tops St. Mary Catholic

NEENAH – Nina Kubiak hit two home runs and drove in four to lead the Appleton East softball team to a 14-8 win over St. Mary Catholic in a nonconference game Monday at St. Mary Catholic High School.
Kubiak also had a double and scored three times to pace the East offense that finished with 16 hits as the Patriots (1-4) picked up their first win of the season.
Reese Reichelt, Lydia Dahlman, Miley Bee and Opal Sparkman all had two hits apiece for Appleton East.
Emma Jacobs picked up the pitching win for the Patriots, striking out two and allowing five runs over five innings of work.
Appleton East will host Neenah for a Fox Valley Association game Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
