Appleton West baseball picks up walk-off win over Appleton North

APPLETON – Zackary Madson had an RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Appleton West baseball team a 7-6 walk-off win over Appleton North in a Fox Valley Association game Thursday at the Nienhaus Sports Complex.
Appleton West picked up its first FVA win and ended a 13-game losing streak, improving to 2-13 overall and 1-8 in the FVA. North lost its third game in a row and drops to 10-4 and 6-3 in conference play.
Quinn Meyers had a bases-loaded triple to drive in three runs, and scored on a single by Isaac Ise as West took a 4-1 lead in the third inning.
The Terrors led 6-2 after four innings before North mounted a comeback.
Nathan Ramus had an RBI single in the fifth to help the Lightning pull to within two, and they tied it with two runs in the top of the seventh on RBI singles by Brennan Otto and Aedan Waterstreet.
Kellin Gilbert was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the seventh for Appleton West, moved up to second on a groundout and scored on Madson’s double to win it for the Terrors.
Both teams are back in action Friday as Appleton North hosts Oshkosh West and Appleton West travels to Neenah.
