Fox Valley Lutheran softball has 14-game winning streak snapped by Seymour

SEYMOUR – Seymour handed the Fox Valley Lutheran softball team its first loss of the season, winning 2-1 on Thursday at Seymour High School.
Kendra Rettler led off the bottom of the first with a home run and Alexis Corn singled home another run to give the Thunder (13-2, 9-1 Bay Conference) a 2-0 lead.
Fox Valley Lutheran pitcher Madison Babcock did not give up anything the rest of the way, but the Foxes’ offense was shut down by Rettler.
Seymour’s pitcher struck out eight without a walk and scattered six hits.
FVL (14-1, 11-1 Bay Conference) scored its lone run in the third inning when Lexi Hanson led off with a double, pinch runner Emma Pfrang moved up to third on a single by Claire Pfrang and scored on a fielder’s choice grounder.
The Foxes had singles in each of the last three innings but could not scratch out another run.
Fox Valley Lutheran will play Mosinee and Neenah at Ashwaubenon on Saturday.
