Menasha takes advantage of Appleton East miscues to win WIAA Division 1 softball regional semifinal

MENASHA – Menasha scored eight unearned runs thanks to six Appleton East errors and defeated the Patriots 9-1 in a WIAA Division 1 softball regional semifinal Tuesday at Scheels Field.

East outhit Menasha 6-3, but could not overcome the fielding miscues and four walks that led to three big innings by the Bluejays.

Menasha moves on to a regional final at No. 1 seed Appleton North on Thursday. Appleton East finishes its season with a 5-22 record.

Lydia Dahlman hit a solo home run in the sixth inning for the Patriots’ lone run.
