Fox Valley Lutheran softball blows out Oconto Falls in WIAA Division 2 regional semifinal

APPLETON – The top-seeded Fox Valley Lutheran softball team had no trouble in its playoff opener, rolling to a 28-0 win over No. 9 seed Oconto Falls in a WIAA Division 2 regional semifinal Tuesday at Fox Valley Lutheran High School.

The Foxes (21-3) put up 17 runs in the opening inning and tacked on 11 more in the second as they won in 2½ innings due to the 15-run rule.

The Foxes finished with 20 hits in just two innings, including home runs from Madison Babcock and Natalie Bromm.

Claire Pfrang had five RBI, Babcock and Bromm each drove in four, and Olivia Fischer, Brianna Dahlke and Paige Leavitt each had three RBI in the win for FVL.

Fox Valley Lutheran will host the winner of Shawano and Green Bay Notre Dame on Thursday in a regional final. Notre Dame leads 4-2 in the fifth inning of a suspended game that will be finished on Wednesday.
