Fox Valley Lutheran baseball slams New London in WIAA Division 2 regional quarterfinal

NEW LONDON – Fox Valley Lutheran scored twice in the first inning and never looked back, rolling to a 12-4 win over New London in a WIAA Division 2 baseball regional quarterfinal on Tuesday at Hatten Park.

Jackson Thede and Spencer Bromm had RBI singles in the opening inning, and Noah Mayer knocked in a run with a double in the fourth as the Foxes took a 3-0 lead.

FVL blew the game open in the sixth, scoring eight times on eight hits, a walk and an error.

Wyatt Schlueter and Bromm each had three hits, Mayer ended up with three RBI, and Jack Schlueter had two hits, two RBI and picked up the pitching win with four strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings.

The No. 9 seed Fox Valley Lutheran (15-12) moves on a regional semifinal at No. 1 seed Seymour (14-6) on Tuesday. No. 8 New London ends its season with an 11-9 record.
