FVL, Xavier combine for 18 state meet berths at WIAA Division 2 track sectional

CHILTON – Fox Valley Lutheran and Xavier combined for 18 state meet berths at a WIAA Division 2 track & field sectional on Friday at Chilton High School.
The Xavier girls had three sectional champions and the boys earned one among the Hawks’ eight state meet qualifiers, while Fox Valley Lutheran did not have a sectional champion, but had 10 state qualifiers.
The top four finishers in each event at the sectional advance to the 2026 WIAA State Track & Field Championships, which will be held June 5-6 at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Division 2 competition begins at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
Earning sectional titles for the Xavier girls, who finished third in the team standings, were senior Caroline Basehoar in the pole vault (12 feet), the 400-meter relay team of Hailey Hafner, Bryce Hietpas, Basehoar and Kayla Fourmiller (49.02 seconds), and the 1,600 relay team of Lauren Erickson, Bernice Geurts, Lily Renz and Grace Hackl (4:01.66).
Hailey Hafner placed second in the long jump (17-4¼) and fourth in the 100 hurdles (15.14), Fourmiller was fourth in the 100 (12.410, and Erickson, Basehoar, Hackl and Fourmiller combined for a runner-up finish in the 800 relay (1:43.71) to also qualify for the state meet.
The Xavier boys lone state qualifier was Wyatt Rouamba, who won the triple jump with a leap of 46-1¾.
The Fox Valley Lutheran boys are sending a big contingent to La Crosse as athletes qualified in five individual events and three relay races.
Kaleb Williams earned a pair of runner-up finishes in the 200 (22.01) and 400 (49.30), and Grant Wolfrath took second in the 300 hurdles (39.79) while also placing third in the 110 hurdles (14.88) for FVL.
Zachary Muenster placed third in the 800 (1:56.83), and teamed with Mason Dobberstein, Henry Laabs and Tom Needham to take third in the 3,200 relay (8:18.94) to also qualify for state for the Foxes.
Also moving on for the FVL were the boys 800 relay team of Tyler Dequaine, Blessings Kapande and Jacob Dobberstein (third, 1:30.22), the boys 400 relay team of Dequaine, Kapande, Cameron Williams and Mayer (fourth, 43.21), and Claire Fischer in the girls 400 (third, 59.44).
