Appleton Doubledays Legion baseball blanks Fond du Lac

MENASHA – The Appleton Doubledays and Fond du Lac Lakers only mustered one hit each in a pitchers’ duel, but the Doubledays were able to scratch out a pair of runs and won 2-0 in American Legion baseball action Wednesday night at Koslo Park.

Cade Prestigiacomo was brilliant for Appleton (6-2), striking out eight while allowing just one hit and one run in a complete-game shutout.

Appleton was able to push across a run in the second when A.J. Thompson walked, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on an error. The Doubledays added another in the fourth as Thompson led off with a single, their only hit, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Mason Winkler.

Appleton will play at Kaukauna on Sunday.
