Appleton Doubledays Legion baseball downs Fond du Lac for fifth-straight win

FOND DU LAC – The Appleton Doubledays put up eight runs in the sixth inning to blow open a scoreless game and went on to defeat the Fond du Lakers 9-1 in American Legion baseball action Wednesday night.
The game was scoreless through five innings before the Doubledays used five hits and four walks to put up eight runs in the sixth inning to take control.
Ethan Winkler had a two-run single, Jackson Bines-Sabrowsky knocked in a run with a double, and Appleton scored twice on double steals in the inning. Winkler finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI.
T.J. Parker went the distance on the mound for the Doubledays, who are now 10-2 after winning their fifth game in a row. Parker scattered six hits, did not walk a batter and struck out four to earn the win.
The Doubledays host Oshkosh on Thursday at Koslo Park in Menasha at 7:30 p.m.
