Appleton Doubledays Legion baseball rolls past Kaukauna

KAUKAUNA – The Appleton Doubledays avenged a loss last week to Kaukauna, defeating the Angels 7-1 in an American Legion baseball game Sunday at Kaukauna High School.

The Doubledays lost 13-1 at Kaukauna on July 1 and made a return trip, this time serving as the home team.

Appleton scored four times in the fourth inning to pull ahead and rode the arms of Matt Bixler and Ethan Winkler.

Bixler allowed one run over five innings, while Winkler finished up with just one hit allowed over the final two innings for the Doubledays (7-2).

A.J. Thompson and Cade Prestigiacomo each had two hits, and Jackson Bines-Sabrowsky and Daniel Dieck both scored twice in the win for Appleton.

The Doubledays will play at Bay Port on Monday starting a string of four games in four days this week.
