Appleton East baseball no-hits Appleton West in regular-season finale

APPLETON – Brandon Tobak and Ethan Winkler combined on a five-inning no-hitter as the Appleton East baseball team closed out its regular season with a 15-0 shutout of Appleton West on Friday at Appleton East High School.
Tobak struck out five over four innings and Winkler finished up the no-hitter with a scoreless fifth as East wraps up its regular season at 16-8 overall and 11-7 in the Fox Valley Association.
Winkler added a double and three RBI, and Cade Prestigiacomo and Jackson Bines-Sabrowsky and Matthew Bixler all had two hits for the Patriots.
Appleton West finishes the regular season with a 7-16 record and a 6-12 mark in the FVA.
Both teams play WIAA Division 1 regional semifinals on Tuesday. Appleton West will play at Appleton North and Appleton East hosts Cedarburg.
